Strength and Rheology of Cemented Pastefill Using Waste Pitchstone Fines and Common Pozzolans Compared to Using Portland Cement

Abstract Cemented pastefill is one of the most popular backfill types that use waste mill tailings to and stabilise mined-out voids in underground mines. Cement dosage range 3–7% added increase strength cemented serve as wall support when extracting adjacent stopes. expensive contributes significantly cost backfilling even with small dosages. Moreover, production cement energy intensive emission carbon dioxide. Partial replacement supplementary cementitious materials can reduce make mine more environmentally friendly. This paper reports findings from a laboratory test programme on optimization mix designs using fly ash, slag, pitchstone fines, polycarboxylate plasticizer. Results indicated apart common pozzolans like ash fines attained comparable unconfined compressive replacing by 10–20%. The are useful for mining civil industries trying dispose or reusing it construction material.
